Today we went to Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep. This Temple is on a hill that overlooks Chiang Mai. There are 300 steps that lead up to its elaborate entrance (we counted), and on the way up these steps there was a temple elephant!
Lilly bought some cucumbers for 10 baht (30 cents) and Lilly, Chris and I fed the elephant cucumbers. The elephant literally inhaled the 30 cucumbers in less than a minute. It was incredible. All three of us hung out with the elephant for at least 45 minutes.

  1. Hi Joey! This is my third attempt to post on your blog and I hope it works!
So happy to read that you are well and having a wonderful time. We miss and love you very much.
We had dinner with your family, the Blatts and Gilbergs for Joey's send off last Friday night and we all were missing you and Lilly. You keep blogging and we'll keep reading.
Please send our love to Lilly. I have read her blog--also great!--but cannot post a comment for lack of a "post a comment" place on hers. Tell her we are following her, too.

  3. Hello Joe. The elephant photo is just wonderful. I printed it off on 8x10 paper and it looks great. Grandma was here for dinner and she took it home to put in her bedroom. You and the elephant are becoming famous. Put in more pictures...your fellow students, teachers, whatever...love, Dad
